Successful Closet Organization Techniques
There’s more than one way to go about organizing one’s closet. There are several factors one must take account for successful closet organization; it’s always good to have a plan, know what you’re storing, and how much space to do it in. Also another consideration is budget allotment, how much money are you willing to spend on organizing your closet? It’s not actually mandatory to spend money on closet organization ideas, some people prefer to use recycled shoe boxes and other cardboard boxes that may be saved from packaging.
However, there are some down sides to using cardboard boxes to organize one’s closet, they degrade at some point, they are relatively fragile when handled over and over, they don’t always stack, and their load bearing capabilities are less than meager, also they are permeable and subject to water and moisture damage not to mention infestation by bookworms, moths and other insects.
A good alternative to using cardboard boxes are plastic tubs and there are several manufacturers that make these. In most home improvement stores you will find aisles filled with these great storage units for closet organizing. They are relatively cheap and are far more durable than cardboard storage boxes, and they are for the most part air tight. These reasonably sealed containers can keep moisture, insects and fungus from harming your belongings. Another great benefit of plastic tubs are their ability to be stacked, most of these units come in packs which allow you to truly utilize space without doing a balancing act. A plastic tub can do just about anything that a cardboard box does, but for those who care about the earth there are products on the market that are made of recycled plastic, if you want to recycle your old tattered boxes and trade them in for plastic without feeling guilty.
Another thing to think about in closet organization is shelving, shelving allows you to put your things above ground level making them easier to reach, see and protect. Shelving in closets are usually made of wood or metal, however plastic systems do exist. The best high-value choice for shelving would be wire mesh, shelving usually made from small metal rods welded together in a grid pattern to store things. They are lighter and more economical than wooden shelving, but have gaps, so smaller items will need a container to house them to keep them from falling to the ground.
